Like many of you, I was glued to the television on Easter weekend watching the Masters. I love watching the mechanics of the swings, seeing the power and speed they generate, the distance, and the mental game of golf.
How the heck did he get there? As a teenager, he began working with a TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) Instructor. In fact, the co-founder of TPI, Dave Phillips, and a few other movement professionals have helped guide him.
Often, golfers are told to change their swing. But all of our bodies are different. We lack mobility in certain areas, have joint stiffness, trigger points/scars, neurological inhibition, inflammation, infections, and more. You can't fit one swing to every single golfer. So, what the heck do you do to improve your swing?
It would help if you focused on improving your body's mechanics. You may need to strengthen spine or shoulder mobility. You may need to work on getting your glutes and abs stronger.
The most important thing we do is a movement screen to identify what is happening with your body. The screen shows pelvic tilt and rotation, single-leg balance, lat strength, forearm rotation and more. Based on what we see, we develop a program to improve your mobility and increase strength to improve your speed and power.
If you are interested in working with a TPI Instructor to improve your golf game, I’d be happy to help. Schedule a free wellness session by filling out the form at the bottom of the "How To Join" page on our website.
In Strength,
