For so many years, we were told that we need to avoid red meat and eggs because it raises cholesterol.
But, please do NOT avoid eating red meat and eggs for this reason.
“Cholesterol is so important that the body can make it out of anything - fats, carbs, or proteins. Even if you eat a cholesterol-free diet, as vegans do, your body will still make cholesterol,” explains Dr. Georgia Ede.
Most cholesterol from food, she says, “does not get absorbed unless body levels are low. And it is virtually impossible for cholesterol from food to cause “high cholesterol.”
If you are choosing to be plant based or a vegan/vegetarian, continue to be you...but, don’t let the reason be because it raises your cholesterol.
Until next time,
Grab some steak and egg and eat up!
