She has been consistently putting in the time during quarantine, and has been getting to the 6:00 am class every day. It can be difficult to achieve this, but Connie let's us in on her thoughts and how she maintains this positive mindset. Hopefully Connie's determination can serve as motivation for you and help you to embrace the changes you need to make in your daily routine to achieve your goals.
Q: 6:00 AM is a tough time slot to make every morning, how many days a week do you take class and how do you stay consistent?
A: I attend class 5 days a week Monday-Friday at 6 AM. I find early morning classes are great for me, I am half asleep and too tired to come up with an excuse not to go. I am up early anyway and exercise plays a part of my daily routine. It is nice to exercise first thing giving me the sense that I accomplished my first goal of the day.
Q: How do you feel your fitness has changed since beginning virtual training?
A: I loved the virtual training. It was a blessing to keep exercising with ANCHOR during the shutdown. I found the virtual training made me go back to the basics and redefine my form. It wasn't until the technique videos came around that I realized how differently I was doing some of the movements. The videos really helped me.
Q: How are you feeling about getting back into the gym?
A: I have to admit, I really liked the virtual classes but knew it would come to an end. I went to my first class in the gym on June 29th. It wasn't horrible, a little awkward, but over time the flow will become the new normal.
Q: Do you see any new challenges arising when it comes to making it to class?
A: I am not going to lie, I was slightly worried about going back to the gym. The virtual classes were so convenient. However, the gym is very clean and I noticed every effort being taken to keep the trainers and members safe and social distancing a key factor. The only challenge making it to class is that the class will fill up due to only allowing 9 people per class.
Q: Do you have any new goals for yourself or anything you're excited to start doing in the gym?
A: I want to remain healthy, continue to build strength and injury free.
Q: Do you have any advice or tips for others who want to get to those early morning classes, but just can't seem to make it?
A: For me what works is a routine and getting the exercise over first thing in the morning. Once I figured out the right time to exercise for my schedule, I stuck to that routine. Also, I am paying for a service each month and I want to make sure I am using the membership to its full potential!
